My favorite mechanically engineered device is the MacBook Pro which is a machine designed from a single piece of aluminum which in the world of technology became a breakthrough due to the replacing of many parts with one in the device. This system is regarded as a unibody and there is no doubt that the first time you pick the MacBook Pro, one will easily notice the difference. The entire enclosure of the device is particularly thinner than the enclosure of other notebooks while the surface of the device looks polished and refined. Apple designers were very innovative by choosing LED backlight technology for the device because the backlight technology allows the MacBook Pro to be incredibly thin and gives the device the sleek design that the device has. “The connections and ports on MacBook Pro — MagSafe power, Gigabit Ethernet, Thunderbolt, USB, SDXC, and audio in/out — are all smartly integrated on the same side of the notebook”(www.apple.com). This implies that the cables connected to the device stay neatly organized while both the connection and the disconnection processes are very convenient for the user.
However, the MacBook Pro is seen as having too many compromises therefore less appealing to potential buyers. This is as a result of the effort to give the device the skinny and sleek design that it possesses. For example, the device has only one USB support. This implies that not only is the device limited on the inside but it is not possible to have multiple connections on the outside. This is unless the user carries a USB hub with him/her. Given the proliferation of USB microphones, the MacBook Pro lacks the competitive edge with other notebooks simply as a result of a single USB port. Apart from that, the device lacks what analysts consider the most important factor in the market, a replaceable battery. This means that one has to send the entire notebook back to Apples for the replacement of the battery. Changing the said factors such as introducing a replaceable battery and multiple USB ports will go a long way in making the MacBook Pro a force to reckon with in the industry.
