Mercantilism is the economic doctrine that means the government control of the trades is of very high importance to ensure the state has successfulness and ensured security. It particularly calls for positivity of the trade balance.

Most significant regulations

The British crown in the long parliament (1640-1660), which marked the British government domestic control over the economy, embraced the mercantilism policies. The control monopolies were common for the American colonists although they involved controversies amongst the rulers. The British mercantilism based their powers as the government while the merchants collaborated with the government with an aim of increasing political power as well as built their wealth status. With the respect that the colonies had, the merchants involved the exclusion of the empires that they had no trade contacts thus they acted in a way that they were being protected by the government.

The government had imposed protection for its merchants against the trade barriers, subsidies to the domestic imports and exports. The American colonists were given a number of regulations by the British crown that ruled their way of ruling. Since the American colonies were the smallest part worldwide, the British ruled over them. Therefore, for the mercantile system to control the Americans, the trade system the British dominated the rule that reduced the trade between the two colonies. A number of navigation acts were used to control the mercantile system. This navigation acts involved the regulations that the British had enacted upon the American colonies. The main aim of these navigation acts were essentially to ensure that the British government controlled the profits that were to come to their economy. Therefore, the government ensured that the number imports were less that the exports. In addition, a number of regulations that the British ruled upon the American colonists included the control of the ports that all the goods that were to be shipped from the English ports needed to be carried by the English ships. The British crown ensured that the foreign traders were excluded from the market and their ships were not allowed to ship the goods at the English ports. The regulations also stated that the manufactured goods were not supposed to be exported since they would compete with the British manufactures. For the success of these regulations, some products were not grown in some countries, for example, growing of tobacco was prohibited in England.

The first regulation was to forbid all imports to England, but the imports carried via the English ships were legal in England as import. All these ships were British ships and they were the only ships supposed to transport goods in the ports. The second regulation was in 1660, this ruled out that there would be imports or exports from the British colonies except for the goods carries via the English ships. This was in order to prevent the market competition from the other colonies.

In addition, there were rules that were set to control the British Empire against any competition that would arise from the American colonies. The colonists with time they focused on enforcement of the regulation and the trade procedures that they used to control the business world for all the colonies.

For the colonists to revolt against the British rule were justified. Since the British was unlawfully imposing taxes on the colonists, they had the right to revolt to get their freedom from unfair taxing. Most the acts that the British imposed on the colonists like the stamp duty, tea and tobacco acts were the top representation of the unlawful acts that the government used against the colonists. It is also clear that the British redcoats killed innocent colonists. The killings were not the right way that the government used to treat the people that it claimed to protect. The other reason that justifies that the British was wrong is that the redcoats never paid taxes therefore becoming unlawful and unfair to the colonists. In essence, the colonists fought and acquired the land they were using. Centrally, the British used force to get the land from the colonists and prohibited them from travelling past the apps in the west. Lastly, the British unfairly changed the colonists 50% taxes over the taxes they were supposed to pay. As a result, the colonists turned out to revolt against Britain. Therefore, through the revolts from the colonist, the British had unfairly exploited their rulings and thus no one would complain against the colonists’ revolt.

How to avoid revolution

In many years of war that the colonists used to fight, they lost a number of their members. Therefore, if the British had allowed the colonists to trade freely there would have been no revolution fights or any cases of revolt from the colonists. In addition, the only reason that the revolution arose was due to the unlawful treatment that the British showed unto the colonists. Lastly, the colonists had to strive to gain the freedom of trade and amongst the mistreated that had the British never allowed room for import form the colonist unless it was under their ruling.
